Gibson ES-355TD Mono 1963 Cherry Bigsby tremolo EXC+++

1963 made Gibson ES 355TD Mono, Cherry with Bigsby tremolo upgrade in excellent condition, all parts are original except the Bigsby installed some decades before by Gibson or any authorized dealer, original hard case is included. Gibson ES355T (at first there was not final D) was released as a deluxe variant of ES335T. By 1959 the model was made in two versions: ES355TD was fitted with a regular mono wiring, ES355TD/SV was fitted with stereo Varitone circuitry and wiring. Our offered guitar is the ES355TD with mono wiring. The guitar has original Kluson Super tuners as Gibson changed the Grover Roto-Matic tuners from 1962 on this model. The vibrato tailpiece was a standard on the early ES355TD guitars in late 50's. First Bigsby vibratos were exclusively mounted and beginning of 1960 the ES355 was also equipped with Gibson's sideways vibrola. The Bigsby unit always remained available as an option throughout the early 60's. Between 1958-1965 the total number of shipped ES355TD Mono was 754, the number was only 66 pieces in 1963!!! The guitar has laminated maple top and back and rim. The construction is semi-solid with maple block running lengthwise. It has 7-ply multiple binding on top and 3-ply on the back. The neck was made of one piece mahogany, 22 fret ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays. Scale length: 24 3/4" (628,6mm). The multi-bound peghead has pearl Gibson logo inlay. The headstock has 5-piece pearl inlaid split diamond. The electronics contains a pair of original PAF Humbucker pickups with two Volume and two Tone controls and a 3-way toggle switch. The pickguard is multi-ply tortoise shell-like and all hardware are gold plated and original. The "Custom Made" plaque has an individual story. Gibson got back many ES335 guitars in the early 60s to install Bigsby tremolo on the fix tailpieced guitars and they found out to cover the holes of tailpiece studs with this "Custom Made" plaque. After 1961 they built many guitars with predrilled holes for the tailpiece but they installed Bigsby at the finishing process as the dealers ordered the guitar. Then they used this plaque as a standard to cover holes. Also Gibson sent this plaques to official dealers who installed Bigsby in their workshop on this guitars. We can't identify when was this Bigsby installed on our offered guitar, but we are sure it was made by the Gibson factory, or an official dealer in the US. The guitar is in excellent condition, it has not any damage or repair, no major scratches or ding-dongs. It is absolutely clean and beautiful. Original hardcase is included.
