They started by offering the standard long plate 12AX7/B759 which, while an amazing tube, tends to be a bit noisy. The Genalex CV4004 was designed with the same high standards as the long plate 12AX7, but offers improved a significant reduction in noise and microphonics. The short plates and spiral filament help cut down on noise. The CV4004 designation is simply what that British called their short plate, low noise 12AX7 in the 50’s. This is the same tube as a 12AX7, 12AX7A, ECC83 etc and will work in any amp that calls for them.
