The Collings I35's design pairs a mahogany back and sides with a maple top and center block for a tonal response that is complex and quick, with an "airy" character. The I35's top carve includes high arches and ample re-curve, allowing the best qualities of the solid wood to shine though in its amplified tone. The quality is incredible high level, both cosmetically and tonality. The solid Honduras mahogany back and sides give the best bass response and full resonant sustain for the guitar. The one piece Honduras mahogany neck has rosewood fingerboard with Mother of pearl dot inlays. The neck scale length is 24 7/8" (631,8mm) and the bone nut width is 1 11/16" (42,8mm). The custom option is the '60s slim neck profile is very comfortable to play. We like this neck profile of ES335 style guitars made in the '60s. The 12" Fingerboard radius is very comfortable and the neck has 22 fret. The Lollar low-wind Imperial humbucker pickups give airy and fast response electric sound. The 1950's style wiring scheme and CTS500k pots with Xicon capacitors give a very special and open sound to this guitar. The tone controls work excellent and you can get out many sounding colors without any loss of dynamic and attack. The Tonepros AVR-II bridge and tailpiece of Collings I-35 is the best today available tune-o-matic style bridge on the market. The nickel Gotoh SG301 tuners with vintage-style buttons has 1:18 ratio.
