Which acoustic guitar to buy for beginners:
If you are a beginner is looking for a universal and versatile guitar then we recommend to choose a Dreadnought or Grand Auditorium body style Acoustic Guitar. The beginner status doesn't mean to buy the cheapest guitar. It is the best if your new and maybe first acoustic guitar will inspire you for a long time. The comfortability of play is a very important point for beginners. If your hands are small and used electric guitars before then do not begin with a wide nut acoustic guitar would be so hard to play. The Dreadnought shape is one of the most known and popular, but maybe it is not comfortable for shorter arms players, because so big and deep the body to play comfortable for hours, in this case we recommend to choose a smaller and less depth body as like the OM shape. Our beginner steel strings Acoustic Guitar brands are Furch Guitars and Sigma Guitars and Eastman Guitars.
Steel strings or Nylon strings guitar to buy?
The acoustic guitars are fitted with steel strings and is usually played by plectrums. This type of musical instrument is also named as Western Guitar. Classical guitars comes with nylon strings (named as Spanish guitars) which are designed to play classical and flamenco music and you can watch our our collection of Classic and Flamenco guitars here. There are some exceptions as like the cross-over Nylon strings acoustic guitars has the same ergonomic shapes and neck profiles as like the steel strings Western guitars, but they have nylon strings setup to get nylon strings sounding with steel strings guitars' playability. Our most popular collection of Cross-over Acoustic Guitars is the Furch Grand Nylon series.

Most of professional guitar players have more than one guitars to choose the best sounding one for different music situations. An high quality acoustic guitar means less compromise for the player, but we have never said "this is the best guitar"...each guitar has own sounding, resonance response, sensibility, tone spot, sustain, attack response etc...if most of required details work well with the player then we can say "it is the best guitar for your needs".
Which body shape of Acoustic Guitar to choose:
The acoustic steel string guitar is designed for all modern genres such as rock, pop, country, bluegrass, folk and contemporary jazz music. The basic difference in acoustic guitars are different body shapes and the used of different tone wood materials those influence the sound.
Basic body shapes of acoustic guitars are Dreadnought, Grand Auditorium, Jumbo, Orchestra OM, Parlor and some other unique shapes and body styles. Some of the body shapes of acoustic guitars has cutaway option to make easier the playability on the upper frets area of fingerboard. The cutaway body makes less bass response in the overall sounding compared to the same size non-cutaway model. Sometimes the cutaway body shape makes good result in the sounding to get less feedback sensible the amplified acoustic guitar.
Which Tone Woods used for Acoustic Guitars:
The guitar body tone wood materials make the largest effect on sounding quality and the price. The most affordable priced acoustic guitars have a laminated (plywood) body, but our lowest price guitars are semi-solid wood constructed guitars with solid top with laminated back and sides. In general, the semi-solid wood guitars offer a richer and fuller sound compared to full laminated body acoustic guitars, these guitars are less sensitive for humidity and climate condition changes compared to full solid body guitars are the highest level of Acoustic Guitars.
The most important part of the acoustic guitar is the top resonant wood type and the grade of tonewood. The most popular Top tonewoods are Cedar and Sitka spruce. Cedar top produces warm and smoother, less brighter (crispy) sounding compared to spruce top has much brighter the sounding with stronger mid-highs. Usually the Spruce top guitars are better in band situation, the sound is more clear and fine detailed. The cedar top works better for solo players and who likes smoother sounding. The higher grade of top wood means more balanced sounding, more powerful and dynamic headroom and more sensibility. There are special "Aged" or "Torrefied" top woods used on Acoustic guitars, it produces the most sensible and louder sounding as like an old Vintage (well played) guitar, usually the attack response of the aged top guitars is fast as like a Ferrari. Our best examples of Aged top woods available to find by Bourgeois Guitars.
The back and sides tone wood also makes effects on overall sounding quality and tones, they have more effects on the bass, bass spots and sustain. The most popular used woods are Mahogany and Rosewood for back and sides materials. Of course there are a lot of exotic woods used by acoustic guitar builders, the most popular is Maple and Walnut as like cheaper alternatives, and the most expensive is the Brazilian rosewood is not able to use without permit thanks to CITES regulation. We always have some exceptional custom built guitars with Madagascar rosewood, Cocobolo, Ziricote, African Blackwood, Hawaiian Koa, Sinker Redwood materials.
Which pickup is the best to amplify the Acoustic Guitar?
Usually we order and keep our acoustic guitars without factory fitted electronics. We would like to offer wider range of options to our clients than the factories used and our Luthier Workshop makes the professional installation of any pickup system will fit the player's needs as the best. Our most prefer transducer brands are Carlos Juan, K&K Sound, LR Baggs and Schertler. There are different types of transducers and pickup systems. Both transducer and piezo pickups work by essentially replicating the vibration of a specific section of your instrument and are commonly placed directly beneath the bridge, typically on the bridge plate or in a thin strip beneath the saddle. The soundhole pickup is placed into the soundhole of the guitar under the strings and captures their resonance via magnetic pole pieces. Microphone-based pickup systems, on the other hand, utilize a capsule and come in a variety of mounting styles, with internal or external goosenecks being the most common. Generally speaking, microphones are the most finicky of pickup styles, but they can sound incredible. That said, a microphone capsule is simply a more delicate mechanism and can be prone to feedback without a proper understanding of its functions. However, modern mic-based systems have evolved to offer very user-friendly features and should be on the top of the list if you require the highest in sound quality.
